The culinary brain behind Firefly, John Simmons got his start in Chicago before coming out to Las Vegas to help open Mon Ami Gabi. But in 2003, Simmons struck out on his own with a concept that became one of the earliest hotspots of the modern Las Vegas culinary scene.

After a decade of dishing up tapas - like those addictive bacon-wrapped dates - Simmons moved Firefly up the street on Paradise. The original location honored his lifelong love of Mexican food and became a place every craft beer-loving Las Vegan knows well: Tacos & Beer.

  • Mini Birria Tostadas – Tender, slow-braised beef infused with guajillo chiles and aromatic spices, served atop crispy mini tostadas and crowned with tangy pickled habanero onions and fresh micro cilantro for a bold, irresistible bite.
  • Ceviche Cups – Zesty marinated shrimp in fresh lime juice, paired with juicy mandarin slices, crisp red onion, fiery serrano peppers, and ripe tomato. Each bite is finished with a vibrant touch of micro cilantro for a bold, refreshing burst of flavor.

Crab Corner Maryland Seafood House is considered one of the best seafood restaurants in Las Vegas. It was founded by brothers, John & Mark Smolen who are originally from the great state of Maryland. Upon coming to Las Vegas in 2006, they immediately noticed the lack of East Coast flavor for all of the transplanted residents. In 2010, the original Crab Corner restaurant on Eastern Avenue opened its doors the public and was an instant hit. Crab Corner moved to its current expanded location on Rainbow Blvd in 2013. It offers the same great food, with a full bar and outdoor patio seating. In 2022, Crab Corner expanded their reach but adding a food truck to the business. You can now find Crab Corner at most of the biggest conventions and festivals in Las Vegas!

Crab Corner takes pride in offering the best, flown in fresh daily, seafood in Las Vegas. The extensive menu offers such items as live lobster, soft-shell crabs, steamed mussels and clams, peel ‘n eat shrimp and much more. Come try it & be transported to the Chesapeake Bay with great tasting fresh & hot steamed blue crabs & jumbo lump meat packed authentic Maryland crab cakes, delectable East Coast oysters, and our homemade Maryland Red Crab Soup! We’ll spread the paper on the table and hand you the crab mallet & knife while you dine in true Maryland crab feast style. So pull up a chair, role back your sleeves & dig in!

John Smolen is from Bowie Maryland. He graduated from the University of Maryland Smith School of Business in 2006. After working in Accounting in Baltimore for 4 years, made the decision to move to Las Vegas and co-found Crab Corner Maryland Seafood House. For the past 15 years, he has been the owner/operator of the restaurant with the passion and desire to offer a taste of home, here in the dessert of Las Vegas.

AMARI Italian Kitchen & Wine Shop, located at 6825 Tom Rodriguez St. Ste. 100, off I-215 and Durango Drive, serves reimagined Italian-American cuisine at UnCommons, a dynamic urban campus in the bustling Southwest Las Vegas district. Open daily, AMARI presents a vibrant dining room, spacious patio, energetic lounge and boutique retail and wine shop, offering a delightful and diverse wine list – available for enjoying onsite or to-go. Spanning 4,600 square feet between the restaurant, bar and patio, AMARI offers indoor and outdoor seating for 120 guests.
